Those coming to hear about theopportunities available at the University of Utah Uintah Basin campus rangedfrom a high school senior with a desire to start a business to an oil fieldworker who wants to finish his education to pursue a different path.
The evening was an attempt torecruit business students, said Bob Peterson, director of student services forthe university. He explained students can attend locally to pursue one of fourbusiness degrees offered in the Basin: accounting, economics, managementinformation systems and business administration. Also offered is a master'sdegree in human resources management, and several minors, including hospitalityand tourism.
The Jon M. Huntsman School ofBusiness was established at Utah State University after a $25 million grant tothe school in 2007 from Huntsman, a respected Utah business leader andphilanthropist. While part of that grant includes a new building for businesseducation at the university's man campus, students can receive the same degreethey would get in Logan, explained Dr. David Woolstenhulme of USU. “It's anawesome opportunity,” he said.
Those in attendance had an opportunity to hearabout the offerings from the school as well as learn about scholarshippossibilities. Break-out sessions where held for several of the offerings,including accounting, economics and business administration. Aggie ice creamsweetened the deal for event participants. Vernal Express
